Problem came up when it was time to turn around and go back. I found out that the cross-winds were not exactly "across." When I went to go back, I found that the winds were against me a bit, and that's not good, especially when you're wearing the wrong shoe for bike-riding.
The balls of my feet were numb. Literally numb. As in, something is so uncomfortable or so tight that you lose feeling in that part of your body. My butt was okay this time. Just my feet.
I have to buy some bike shoes.
It was so cool, though. On the way back, against the wind, I passed a couple of guys. One of them must have told his buddy to check out the name of the bike I was on because the buddy temporarily caught up with me, and then slowed back down.
My bike is a gem. I bought it used. It's an early 80's SR Semi-Pro. It weighs less than 20 lbs., and it has all original Shimano parts. There is no rust, no dirt. It's as if someone kept it in a very dry location, covered by a tarp. I knew when I first sat on it an took it for a test drive that it was special. It reminds me of the Raliegh that I bought for $300 back around '81 or '82.

I will probably replace the pedals with the kind that are clip-on. Other than that, so far, I am really, really happy with this bike.
