Let's break it down into Weight Watcher points, k??
1 serving = 21 points!!!!!!!
This would mean that if you had one serving of this, you couldn't eat for the rest of the day if you were on a 20-points-per-day-maximum (like I am).
Teeter, I think you have to re-think this recipe. Or someone tell me why it's okay for me to eat this as a snack!!!

I bought a bag of almonds from Trader Joe's the other day (okay, they were cinnimon sugar almonds, but still) and I calculated the points at 3 per serving. Not bad, right?
Well, one serving turned out to be about 16 almonds. I'm sorry, that is NOT a satisfying snack. Too bad. Nuts are soooo good.
Too many people make the mistake that just because nuts contain healthy fats means they can eat as much as they want. They have to remember, everything in moderation.
Not saying you are one of those people, T. Just a sad fact about people in general.
Why is it always one extreme or the other? I was talking to a girl at work today who is trying to lose weight before next weekend during which she has to be a bridesmaid.
So, to lose weight, she's doing a detox diet. She starts each morning with a QUART of SALT WATER and throughout the day drinks 6 cups of water mixed with maple syrup, lemon juice, and cayenne pepper. She ends her day with some other horrifying drink, but I can't remember what it is.
What she doesn't realize is that as soon as she goes back to eating normal foods she's going to gain any weight lost right back.
Now, I CAN eat 8 of them with a cup of coffee and feel satisfied, like I got my afternoon fix. I do this alot when I am feeling tired in the afternoon, it helps.
OCD: that girl that you wrote about, she doesn't care about keeping the weight off. All she cares about is looking good for ONE day, not anymore than that.
Good point about that girl, T. She just wants to look good for one day. And "go you" if you can limit yourself to just a few. Actually, I think Art's way of eating would encourage the nuts. Just can't go over-board.
Actually, 16 almonds wouldn't be so bad. And only 3 points? I imagine a few of T's nuts wouldn't be too bad, even with the added butter and sugar. I don't even think you have to worry about cutting down on the recipe as far as the butter goes because the nuts have so much fat in them, it woudn't matter.
T, I wrote this post, btw, tongue in cheek. I know how much fat nuts have in them, so the caloric and fat content are astounding when you calculate it out.
But I know that this stuff is actually good for you.
Let me clarify: that girl is actually trying to lose weight. She wants to lose it quickly for this wedding she's in, but she really does want to lose it, period. Anyway, it's an insane way to lose weight no matter what you're doing it for.
T, if you can eat 8 nuts and feel satisfied, I think that's great. Everyone is different. Personally, I want to feel like I'm getting my monies worth, so to speak. I think there are other healthy snacks that have the same amount of calories or less and will actually make me feel full, or at least take the edge off. I think that's what I'm usually looking for, something that will satisfy and take away my hunger. As soon as I get hungry I start reaching for the "bad" stuff. Nuts (the reasonable amount I can eat without blowing my points) just doesn't cut it for me. Which is really too bad, because, like I said, I love them.
By the way, I really like these recipes you're posting. Keep 'em coming!
