A bit stressed here

The AttorneyI have a big cross-complaint to draft. I have a hearing tomorrow morning for which I have to prepare. I'm in the middle of training a new paralegal. And of course there's a complaint that needs to be served. Ongoing cases need attention.

I'm trying not to be stressed, but I'm a bit stressed.

When I get too stressed, my body breaks out in hives. The first time that happened was when I was in the paralegal program prior to starting law school back in 1992. I woke up one morning to find my entire body covered with so many welts, that they all eventually grew together to form one massive welt.

For the first 6 months to a year, I couldn't figure out what was causing them. I immediately quit caffeine, sugar, birth control pills. But I would still break out in hives.

Of course, I finally figured it out. There were people in law school who reacted differently to the stress. One girl used to throw up, and a guy I knew got stomach aches. I break out in hives.

I haven't broken out in a while. I think I have things under control for the most part. But whenever I have this feeling of impending doom because there's so much to do, I usually break out about 2 days later. I guess that's how long it takes, like when you've been exposed to a cold, it takes a couple of days to have the symptoms.
