Daylight Savings: the good, the bad, the ugly

The Good:
1. It's no longer dark when I leave work.
2. More daylight hours means more time outside with my camera.
3. It's warmer. Ahh, sweet warmth, how I've missed thee. I've been cold for so long. I'm tired of long sleeves and sweaters and carrying portable heaters around with me wherever I go and being afraid to sit on the cold toilet seat in the morning... Oh, warmth, it's so good to have you back.

The Bad:
1. Waking up is a bitch, more so than normal.
2. It's dark when I leave for the gym and I scare easily.
3. I can't fall sleep at my normal 9:00pm bed time.
4. Waking up is a bitch, more so than normal.

The Ugly:
Last night I had the genius idea to move my alarm clock far away from the bed so that I'd be forced to get up and walk my sorry ass across the room to make it stop. I thought there was a chance I would snooze less if this was the case.

So, last night, before getting in bed, I moved it and set it for 6am. (Disgusting, right? Well, until someone determines that it's actually better for you to stay in bed rather than exercise, this is the way it has to be. I don't like it any more than you do. Trust me.)

This morning, when my alarm clock so pleasantly woke me up, I was surprised at how awake I felt. This is going to be a cinch! I stupidly thought.

It only took a few minutes to realize that my alarm clock is a total psycho. Some time in the middle of the night, it had determined that today was Daylight Savings Time and set itself another hour ahead.

It was 5am.

I have been up since 5am.

Oh, the horror of it all!

You see, karma is nipping at your heels. Whenever you hate something, you will keep encountering it.

Because you hate DST, your clock re-set itself and made you get up earlier than you would have had to get up.

Embrace DST. Make it your friend.
