Frustrated!

TeeterWe moved back in a month ago! A whole MONTH! and guess what?!! That's right, the house is still not done. I am so frustrated.

I have been left to finish it all by MYSELF. Everyone has given up. So, I sit here feeling totally and utterly overwhelmed.

Today, I decided that I will finish emptying all the boxes myself. So, I went out back and started taking stuff out of one. And Oh MY GOD, can you guess what I found? A cockroach the size of Texas! EWWWWWW!!! I am so glad that I didn't bring the box into the house.

We get a lot of roaches here in Southern Utah. They aren't the ones that infest your house and you can never get rid of....we had those when I was growing up, the kind that scatter when you turn on a light. Uck! No, these kind are HUGE and they come in so they can die. It's wierd. They try so hard to come in and then they flop over onto their backs and squirm and die. I don't know if they are actually cockroaches. I have heard them called water bugs.

They look something like this:

Now, do you think that I can really unload any boxes?! NO!! Of course not. Roaches freak me out. They are gross.

Not only are we not unpacked, we don't have the new lights in, the covers on the plugs aren't on, there are no mirrors in the bathrooms, we are still missing a couple of cupboard doors, and the paint still has to be fixed. All in all, at this rate, the house will never get done.

That is horrifying!! I'd come help you, but I'd probably flop over and die just like those roaches if I saw one! Yikes. I'm not sure I can even look at this post anymore.

I'm sorry that you've been stuck with finishing everything on your own! I wish there was something I could do. Or your kids could do. Isn't that why you had them? Slave labor?

I wish I could help. I ain't afraid of no stinkin' roaches.

Listen, you are still young, grasshopper, and you lack patience. Just because the house isn't done ALL AT ONCE doesn't mean it will NEVER BE DONE.

One step at a time:

1. "Not only are we not unpacked,..."

First, unpack. Don't do anything else until you are done unpacking. Don't even LOOK at anything else until you are done unpacking.

2. "...we don't have the new lights in,..."

Either order them, and then keep unpacking or, if you have to put them in yourself, finish unpacking and then PUT THE LIGHTS IN.

If you can't see at night, then spend the first day putting the lights in and then unpack.

3. "...the covers on the plugs aren't on,..."

If this is a dangerous condition, you might want to do this before you unpack or put lights in. Spend one day putting all the covers on. You don't need no stinkin' men to do it!

4. "...there are no mirrors in the bathrooms,..."

No biggy. You don't need to see what you look like anyways. Get a hand-held for now and finish the rest of the house first. This one should go on the bottom of the list.

5. "...we are still missing a couple of cupboard doors,..."

Save that for before mirrors but after plugs and lights.

6. "...and the paint still has to be fixed."

This one can be fixed by that guy or by you, if you have the paint you need. Call the state contractor's board for your state, if you have one, and make a complaint. That usually gets the contractors out to finish the job quickly.

Be patient. This was a big overhaul you guys did. I've seen worse horror stories. Keep your fingers crossed that this is the worst of your problems so far. IT WILL GET BETTER BUT BE PATIENT.

It will get done...I have faith in you. I am completly unpacked from our move 3 weeks ago....and I get to start packing in a few months for our move to Kansas. Why I unpacked EVERYTHING I will never know. I know you need your rub to come help you kill those cockroaches. Lord knows I have become a pro at killing those suckers after living in enlisted housing. Just do like your momma said and take it one thing at a time. Now I gotta go get in the shower becuase I have to go to ANOTHER lame army function where I have to play the officer's wife role and get all fancy! Wanna trade lives for one week?
