A Day of Testing

TeeterThis past Wednesday was my day of test. A test of my honesty.

In the morning, I took #5 to the store. We do our shopping. At some point through the store, she decides she wants a bowl of fruit. I say ok. I mean, who is going to say no to their kid when that kid is asking for fruit? She takes the bowl of fruit to sit with her in the car cart (the kind with a car in the front). We go through checkout. I get the cart and notice that the fruit is still sitting at the bottom of the car cart. I could have walked out with it. Instead, I picked it up and told the cashier that we never payed for it. I can't just walk out with it.

Later that day, I am at #3's softball game. I go to get into my car and the wind grabs my door and slams it into the car next to me. (The wind is really bad here in the early spring). I could have left. I wanted to. Really bad. I don't have the money to pay for something like that and we don't need another thing on our insurance. I left a note anyway. The person still hasn't called. I don't know if they will, but at least I did my part.

It is really hard for me to be dishonest. I have a conscience. A really big one. Probably from all the stupid stuff I did as a teenager.
