Frustrated!

TeeterWe moved back in a month ago! A whole MONTH! and guess what?!! That's right, the house is still not done. I am so frustrated.

I have been left to finish it all by MYSELF. Everyone has given up. So, I sit here feeling totally and utterly overwhelmed.

Today, I decided that I will finish emptying all the boxes myself. So, I went out back and started taking stuff out of one. And Oh MY GOD, can you guess what I found? A cockroach the size of Texas! EWWWWWW!!! I am so glad that I didn't bring the box into the house.

We get a lot of roaches here in Southern Utah. They aren't the ones that infest your house and you can never get rid of....we had those when I was growing up, the kind that scatter when you turn on a light. Uck! No, these kind are HUGE and they come in so they can die. It's wierd. They try so hard to come in and then they flop over onto their backs and squirm and die. I don't know if they are actually cockroaches. I have heard them called water bugs.

They look something like this:

Now, do you think that I can really unload any boxes?! NO!! Of course not. Roaches freak me out. They are gross.

Not only are we not unpacked, we don't have the new lights in, the covers on the plugs aren't on, there are no mirrors in the bathrooms, we are still missing a couple of cupboard doors, and the paint still has to be fixed. All in all, at this rate, the house will never get done.

Weight Loss

TeeterMy weigh in this week was incredible. I made my goal plus some. Remember, my goal was to lose 2.2 pounds so that I could be below 160. Well, I did it!!

I lost 3.8 pounds!!! It was the most wonderful feeling. I am now at 158.3 lbs! I have lost 22 pounds since I started.

Anyway, We have now been in the house for 3 weeks and I am still trying to put it back together. I sure wish it was easier to do. Unpacking sucks. Not to mention that we have 4 of our children in some sort of activity or two. So, really, there isn't time to do much around the house. Or, I am just majorly procrastinating (which is most likely the case). Someone needs to come up with a drug for procrastinators. I mean, we have drugs for everything else. Why not procrastinating?

Have I mentioned that school gets out in about 6 weeks?! All my brats will be home for an entire summer! It really isn't so bad. My oldest is the biggest problem. He has such a hard time adjusting to big changes that he makes everyone else miserable. It usually only last a few weeks and them he mellows back out. I just dread those first few weeks. Oh well, at least I still have 6 weeks to prepare myself.

Idiot Painter

TeeterLast night the painter tells Hubby that he will paint all the baseboards overnight so they are ready for the carpet to be put in today. Hubby tells him if there are any problems, to call so we can take care of it.

This morning we go to the house to clean it and get ready for the carpet and, lo and behold, only half the trim is painted. ARG! And guess what?! We did not get a phone call last night.

We don't know what happened to the guy. We haven't heard from him today, which is odd because he lives down the street from us. So, we spent the entire day masking off the walls and the floors to fix the crappy job he did and to paint the stuff he didn't paint.

Oh yeah, and we had to put off carpet another day. I sure hope the guy doesn't think he is getting paid.

Remodel

TeeterAs of today, we have almost everything still to finish.

Tile takes forever! Tile has been going on since last Tuesday or Wednesday. Today is Wednesday and it should be done, at least in my mind. We are told that it will be done tomorrow, but really, I don't see how. I think it will be done on Saturday.

Monday and Tuesday are going to be exciting. On Monday we have our new counters going in. On Tuesday we have the new carpet going in. The carpet is the last thing that goes in.

If I get things my way, I will get to move back in to my house on Wednesday! Yay!

Remodel

TeeterHere is what is going on at my house:

This is hubby putting the concrete into the mixer so we could level the floor. (I am not impressed with the material. I don't think it worked very well at all!)

This is when the mixer spit at hubby.

We had to put off tile for a whole day because of that wet spot in the middle of the floor. See, the leveling stuff worked so well (insert major sarcasm) that the tile guy had to use mortar to level this spot better.

Because every bedroom needs a toilet in the doorway.

and every laundry room needs a fridge in its' doorway.

Hubby prepping the main bathroom floor for tile.

This is what our cabinets are going to look like after the cabinet guy refinishes them.

This is the color of our bedrooms. I hope this picture does it justice, because I love it!

Our gutted master bath waiting for counters and a sink and a toilet. But, look at the floor!

This is what the floor is going to look like throughout most of the house. I am so excited. It's exactly what I wanted done.

Where's Teeter?

The AttorneyI think she's in the middle of remodeling and I think I remember she said they had to move out of their home for 30 days so I imagine she's about to kill herself at this point. But I hope when she's done killing herself, she comes back and POSTS ABOUT WHAT'S GOING ON!!!

The Remodel

TeeterIt has been 5 days since we moved out. As of today, everything is out of the house. The concrete floors have been ground down. Bathroom counters have been ordered, we are going with cultured marble. We have our tile.

Let me tell you about our paint. I love the colors we picked. Hubby hired a neighbor guy to spray the paint, repair any drywall that needs to be retouched, and to paint the trim and doors. Last night, the neighbor decided it was time to paint the bedrooms. First he sprayed primer on all the walls and then he went back over them with the color we wanted. This morning we get to the house really excited to see the color we picked. The color is awesome. It is exactly what I pictured in my head. The paint job was HORRIBLE. There was paint puddles on ALL the window sills. Paint was dripping down the walls. We couldn't believe it.

Hubby is a sucker. He gave the neighbor another chance to fix it. Let's hope he does because, otherwise, I will be fixing it and not paying him.

I will see about posting some pictures tomorrow.

Remodel

Today is the day that we move out for a month. The new place is furnished and supposed to have pretty much everything we need. I will have to go over there to make sure.

Tomorrow we are renting a machine called a Scarifier scary, doesn't it?). It is going to grind down the concrete floor so that the floor is more level.

We still have to order tile and carpet (insert manic, panicking voice here). We have a guy coming to refinish our cabinets in two weeks. I also have to go pick out paint. OH Shit! Counters!

Well, I will let you know how we are coming.

Moving

For one month.

We have a rented a furnished apartment for a month while we redo our floors. Hopefully, it will all get done in that time. So, this week we have to pack up the WHOLE house and move everything into a Pod thing. Luckily, the only things we have to take to the apartment are our clothes and personal items we may want/need.

In the meantime, we get to cram seven people into a 1200 sq. ft. apartment. Oh well, it could be worse. We could have to stay here and work around everyone.

I can't wait for it to be done.
